You will be charmed by the scenery and the light that flows into this lovely chalet in Châtel, close to all the activities of the Portes du Soleil.
The popular resort has a snowpark, several ski touring routes, and a beginners’ area, as well as slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers. There are links to other Portes du Soleil resorts, and Châtel’s altitude means you can expect good snow coverage throughout the ski season.
For the rest of the year, the region becomes a paradise for hikers, cyclists and all guests who love the great outdoors. You can try water sports on the Dranse river, relax with some fishing or enjoy a family picnic by Lake Vonnes.
Châtel has all the shops, bars, and restaurants you might need during your stay, along with two cinemas, an ice rink and a bowling alley.
And at the end of a fun-packed day, you can relax in the comfort of your private sauna and admire the breathtaking views.
About the property…
Chalet Pic & View is a charming three-storey property for eight guests (including six adults), with three bedrooms and two shower rooms.
On the ground floor, the living area has large windows and doors onto a wraparound balcony, with panoramic views of the village and the mountains. There’s a cosy seating area with a sofa and armchairs around a woodburning stove and TV, along with a dining table and a compact, but well-equipped kitchen. A wood-burning stove warms the room during winter evenings. There is also a WC on this level.
The upper floor has two double bedrooms, both opening onto a balcony. They share a shower room with a toilet.
The final bedroom is a family room on the garden level. It has a double bed with a single bunk bed over it, and a trundle bed that can accommodate an additional child if necessary. This floor also has a TV room with a sofa bed suitable for one adult, and a shower room with a toilet, making it a great space for a young family.
A sauna has been installed just outside Chalet Pic & View, where you can continue to enjoy the views while you relax.
There is parking for one car in the garage, also used as a shared ski room, and another parking area which is shared with other properties.
There is a long flight of steps between the garage and the chalet, which makes access difficult for guests with limited mobility.
About the area…
Châtel is in the beautiful Abondance Valley, on the French-Swiss border, and just 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva Airport. This friendly village is known for its traditional charm and architecture, while also offering a good range of shops, restaurants and modern facilities. Châtel holds the Famille Plus label for its children’s entertainment programme and family-friendly infrastructure.
In winter, this Portes du Soleil resort is connected to Avoriaz, Torgon, and Morgins via several ski lifts, and its altitude ensures good snow coverage. The resort features a snowpark, a boardercross course and a beginner area, as well as slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers, and multiple ski touring routes around the village.
During the rest of the year, cyclists can enjoy the surrounding mountain roads, while Châtel’s bike park offers 20 mountain biking trails. Hikers can explore approximately 400km of trails across 48 circuits. Lake Vonnes, just 1km from the village, is perfect for fishing and paddleboarding. Other activities include climbing, paragliding, via ferrata, tennis, rafting, kayaking, and the Fantasticable zip line which soars over the valley at 100km/h.

Set on the border between France and Switzerland, Chatel is a popular choice thanks to its great skiing in the Portes du Soleil and its close proximity to Geneva airport.
Unspoilt and with a traditional charm, you’ll find pretty chalets and wonderful scenery.

The entire chalet is filled with natural light, thanks to large windows and glass doors. The views are perhaps best from the living room and wraparound balcony, which look out over the village and Alpine peaks.
And for guests looking for a little more privacy, there’s a TV room on the garden level.
The open-plan kitchen is compact but fully equipped, and there’s a cosy seating area around a wood-burning stove.
The two double bedrooms on the first floor also enjoy panoramic views and share a shower room, while the garden-level bedroom is ideal for a family, with a double bed, a single bunk bed and a trundle bed. There is another shower room with a WC on this floor.
